Nihilism

I've been thinking today about death and life. Pretty much nothing that we do in life matters. Out of 6 billion people in the world, who is going to be remembered 100 years from now? Why do years even matter? Nothing we do affects anything.

I guess I just wish that there was some way I could know what I could do to make something big happen. Or even just to have a happy and good life. I think things would be better if I could see the future, even if I could do nothing to change it. At least it would make decisions easier.

Birthday

Yesterday I started saying "I am 25" instead of "I will be 25." It feels like I'm going to fit pretty snugly in this age. It's a nice round number, and my car insurance premium goes down because of it. Although, since I'm turning 1/4 of a century old, it makes me think about aging and death. I guess my main thought is that I would really like New Game + as an option in life. You get through the whole story arc, then once the ending comes, you have the option to start over again with all the resources and knowledge that you had at the end of the last time. I would be a baby genius prodigy! Also, I wouldn't have to worry so much about trivial things.

I went to Nickelrama with friends and ate deliciously unhealthy food yesterday to celebrate. Glorious.

Man, nobody reads this blog. Haha!

Six Foot Hole in One

Well this is totally awesome.  I don't know why this hasn't been done before! I guess there weren't enough people dying, so the funeral home opened the mini golf course to rake in some extra bucks? Yes, you read that question right. Click the link.

Last night, Michelle, the Lees, Maeve, Jesse and I went out to Nickelrama, which was GREAT! I love arcades, especially one that uses nickels instead of quarters. If anyone ever wanted to get me something really over the top for a birthday or Christmas, you could get me a Legend of Zelda pinball machine. I know they don't have them, that's why it would be totally over the top (and I would probably love you forever just for that).

Weekends are nice, everyone.  I'm hungry, time to get some food.

Brighter, Happier, Distorted.

So I posted in my old blog to state that I'm no longer posting in it, and I have moved here. Before I did, though, I read through a couple of years' worth of entries.  I realized that I miss the simplicity of those times, but I wonder if one day I will miss the simplicity of these times.  As we age, the past becomes brighter and blurs until it reaches a level of false nirvana.

I wonder if when I'm 80, if I can still read this, what feelings I will have. I wonder if I will make it to 80.

I'm supposed to be working on a paper for school, but I have decided to put it off because I am lazy. Or maybe it's that I am not motivated to write an Executive Summary for a proposal document.

I read in my old livejournal about my feelings toward people with whom I no longer have contact. I guess I miss some of them.

Death is the Road to Awe

"Death is a disease, it's like any other. And there's a cure. A cure - and I will find it." is a quote from Darren Aronofsky's movie The Fountain, which is probably one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. Also, this little critter achieved that goal.

I am so excited about this little guy, it's crazy! You should read the full article about him (it's short). It just blows my mind that there are creatures that can do this and that we haven't done something with it. If people were able to recycle their cells like this jellyfish, it would be amazing.

You Hillbilly!

Well, I spent most of today enjoying springtime weather. Does "Springtime Weather" sound like a song from the 60s? I think so.

I know hardly anyone reads this blog, but I thought I'd give my mom a bit of free advertising. Her musical talent is solid and classic. She's a singer/songwriter whose voice is ethereal and breathy at times, but full at others. Though she's only accompanied by her guitar, it's not a lonesome sound. Anyway, you should give her a listen.

Right now, the sun shines in my eyes. Bells of train track crossings ring and my patio door is open. Trash bags sit on my porch, waiting for me to transfer them into the dumpster several yards away. After that, someone will dump them into a truck, then onto a landfill. Then they will decompose.

But isn't that the fate of us all?

I beat the original Bioshock game again. It's awesome still, even after the second one changed the play mechanics. Apparently, Valve is making another Portal game, and I am really excited.

What do you think of this?
